Three acrylic templates make this very old and popular 8 pointed star. Set-in seams are easy with accurate cutting and piecing.

I've used my hibiscus fabric and fussy cut the 'petals'.  You can see the holes left in the fabric in the bottom image where I have cut the diamonds.
