Hi, You're receiving this email because {name} thinks the Pounamu carving wallhanging pattern would interest you.
Designed by Mary Metcalf.

Wall hanging size: 13" x 29½" (33cm x 75cm).

As seen in the August 2013 issue of the Australian Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

The wallhanging is suitable for beginners and shows three pounamu (greenstone) fish hooks or pendants.

Click on the zoom image button opposite to see the wallhanging in better detail.

The maori have long carved their fish hooks and pendants from pounamu (greenstone) or bone.
This wall hanging shows three distinct types of carving and each has a meaning.

Hei-Matau are often seen as good luck charms especially if the wearer is traveling over water. The single twist amulet shows the joining together of two people for eternity. The koru represents the fern frond as it opens bringing new life and purity to the world.

thread-on-hanging-small.jpgI used a variegated Signature range thread for the machine blanket stitch.
This photo shows an earlier version of the wallhanging when I was showing bone carvings.
